Soulver
- The
kitchen sink of calculators.
Soulver is a new kind of calculator application which allows you to do
maths using plain English phrases. After trying Soulver's simple yet
powerful word-processor style interface, you'll have a hard time going
back to pocket calculators, or the back of the envelope.
10
reasons to love
a Soulver:
- It’s instant.
Soulver
doesn’t wait for you to press equals - it just calculates.
- It lets you work with
numbers in plain
English. Want to know what $30 a month is for 12 months? Then type just
that.
- It lets you see and change
everything.
Older calculators obscure your expression with the answer. Soulver
shows you everything over multiple lines which allows you go back and
change anything.
- It calculates more than just
decimal.
Soulver will show you your answer in 6 different forms and calculate 6
statistics like average and median without missing a beat.
- It just knows what you mean.
Soulver
works with constants, for instance, type half of a million and Soulver
will give you 500,000 or 10% of a thousand will give you 100.
- It has power. Soulver has
all the
standard functions you need from Sin to Log and gives impressive
accuracy up to 100 dp.
- It’s a word
processor to boot.
Everything you’d expect from a standard word processor, like
saving documents, customising colour and fonts, find and replace.
- Everything updates on the
fly. Like a
spreadsheet, when one line changes, every other line that depends on it
updates accordingly.
- It’s made with all
the
goodness of fresh Cocoa. Soulver is created in same language Apple uses
to create its iLife suite and is naturally a universal binary.
- It’s free to try.

theWord -
Audio Bible for OS X.
theWord is an audio Bible, unlike any
other you may have
used before. Instead of simply being a recording of someone reading the
Bible, theWord uses Apple's powerful voice synthesis to "read" the
Bible to you. Using it's built in database, theWord can navigate to the
exact book, chapter, and verse you want to hear.
Because it uses voice syntheses, instead of recordings, it is a very
small download, and does not use excess space on your computer. A
traditional audio bible recording can span many CDs.
A traditional audio recording of the bible also makes it difficult to
listen to your favorite passages. It is broken up in to tracks based on
the chapter. theWord can index the entire bible by verse, so you can
pinpoint the passage you want to hear, and create a "bookmark" of that
passage. You can store many bookmarks in a playlist called "my
bookmarks".
If you have no experience with The Bible, theWord includes many built
in playlists with suggested readings, historical highlights, helpful
passages. With the built in daily reading calendar, you can listen to
the entire bible in one year without any problem. Put it on your iPod,
and you could listen to it during your commute, at the gym, or whenever.
Playlists
Along the left hand side of the window are the playlists. These are all
built in, and can't be edited, except for "my bookmarks". These
playlists are included here to help you if you have no experience with
the Bible. The playlists include: (list them and describe)

Bookmarks
Each play list contains bookmarks, which are specific bible passages.
When you select a playlist, the bookmarks are displayed in the bookmark
table. When you double-click a bookmark, it is loaded into the "current
passage"

This displays the current book, chapter, and verse of the current
passage being read

it is clicked
Voices
There are many voices built into the Mac OS. Use this menu to chose
one. We highly recommend "vicki", as it is the most natural voice.
