Freeware of the Day:

ArchDetect - How universal are you?

ArchDetect

No cats harmed during the creation of this app
We'll admit, curiosity got the better of us. So before making the switch to Intel, we created ArchDetect in a matter of a few hours. Thinking this tool was rather useless, we sat on it for a while. And then released it as is.

Not quite so useless
Regarding it's popularity, we were wrong. In a matter of 3 days, ArchDetect was downloaded more than any other project we've ever created. We received praise, bug reports, and feature requests. So we fixed some bugs, added some features, and said thank you.

Now... uh... what's it do?
ArchDetect will perform a quick Spotlight-powered search for applications on your computer, then will detect the architectures for each of them. It'll give you the results in a nice table, which you can search, sort & filter any way you like. Find something not yet Universal? You can easily select an application, and press "Update" to pull up search results from MacUpdate - or any download site of your choice.

Still work to be done
ArchDetect is stable, but we have some more work to do. With version 1.2, we added localization support - but no additional localizations yet. There is no help file yet, and we have not done any Universal Access testing. We'd also like to add saving the results to a text file, as well as some other features. These are all planned for upcoming releases. But until then, have fun, induldge your curiosity.
